I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at PolicyMe in Mar 2025
Interview
I’ve interviewed at PolicyMe three times over the past few years, and unfortunately, each experience has been consistently disappointing, particularly in terms of communication from their HR/recruiting team.
The first time, I was contacted via LinkedIn by their Head of HR and referred to apply. After a recruiter call, I was rejected due to, what I think, was a perceived lack of Python exp.
The second time, I again spoke with a recruiter, but was completely ghosted after the initial call, no follow up, no closure.
The third and final time has been the most frustrating. After applying through LinkedIn, I was contacted about two weeks later for a screening call. The call felt very scripted, with boilerplate questions like, "How many years of experience do you have in technology X?" or "Tell me about a time when…".
I passed the intro call and was given a React frontend take home task with a 2 hour limit. I completed and submitted it and was told I’d proceed to the next stage: a technical review with a VP. However, this meeting was never scheduled properly. I had to follow up multiple times to get a response. When I finally heard back, they attempted to schedule a meeting with less than a day’s notice, which I couldn’t attend due to personal obligations. I asked to reschedule and followed up again… only to be ghosted once more.
Throughout the entire process, every email from them required multiple follow ups from me to get a response. It felt like I was being treated more as a checklist than a person with a real skillset or interest in the role.
Maybe the rest of the company is a great place to work, but the recruitment process has been one of the worst I’ve encountered. The lack of professionalism and follow through left a very poor impression. I won’t be applying again.

Question 1
Take home:
Build out features for a DnD char sheet, pure FE in React, no mocked API calls, backend or form submission.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re a small team that receives a high volume of applications and reviews each candidate by hand. Unfortunately, once in a while, someone does slip through in review or communication. We are really sorry that this was you and that you’re experience was not as it should have been. Thanks again for the honest feedback - we will continue to review our processes so we can get better as we scale!
