I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Play Versus (New York, NY)
Interview
The recruiting process is awful and disorganized. The recruiter called me. Missed our appointment time - rescheduled - I hit it out of the park - dead on fit- told me that I would be called the next day for next steps only to get a computer gen letter telling they’ve moved on. Play VS is a joke - no wonder Dalane left.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Play Versus (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2020
Interview
5 rounds of interviews, only 1/5 of those who interviewed me still works there. Variety of questions about former experience and current market fit. About a week or so in between each round so process took about two months
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Play Versus (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2021
Interview
The question structure was set up well. Algorithm section wasn't conducted by someone that knows Javascript very well and failed to really "pair" program. React questions were good. Backend interviews didn't seem to have any structure.
Was able to answer all of the questions either immediately or with a little trial and error (algorithm).
30 Min Screen.
1 Hour Pair Programming in React. The scope of work was way too much for a sub 1 hour session.
4 Hour virtual on-site
- 1 hour React pair programming interview
- 1 hour Algorithm
- 1 hour backend questions / system design
- 1 hour manager
Feedback. Give feedback to a candidate that gave up 5 hours for your process. To simply get a "we aren't moving forward" is unprofessional.
