I applied online. I interviewed at Pinterest in Oct 2020
Interview
Very first step was a technical screen. Was directed to a shared coding site. Asked to write a couple of SQL queries that were moderately difficult. However, because this is the first step, they were more interested in the thought process and didn’t worry too much about optimizing.
Then there were Python coding questions. They allowed you to Google syntax and whatever you needed. Mostly working with pandas data frames.
Last question was a short business case testing business sense and some stats, mostly product-focused (what metrics would you use/calculate, what would you check if numbers seem wrong, etc).
Next round was an interview with the hiring manager, with basic introductions and more “what metrics” and business sense questions, walkthrough of resume, tell me about a project, etc.
Final round was 4.5 hours long, panel interview. One was a continuation of the SQL/Python coding, this time with attention to optimizing and efficiency, and generally harder questions. Another interview was on A/B testing, stats, and design of experiments. One was business sense and metrics, a couple resume walkthroughs with some stats/ML technical questions asked (what algorithm would you use and why, how would you check whether your model worked), and finally a conversation with HR.
In the end, I wasn’t chosen. It was a very lengthy process, but overall a positive one. The interviewers were never out to “stump” me and very happily helped me when stuck. They want you to succeed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Non-trivial SQL, data frame manipulation in pandas (or R, you had a choice), stats, A/B testing, business sense (what metrics would you use to measure if our new feature successfully increased user engagement? How long to run the experiment?), some ML (describe logistic regression, what are the assumptions, how would you check the assumptions)

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Pinterest (New York, NY) in Apr 2022
Interview
Had a great experience with the interviewer. She introduced herself first and tell me what her position is about. The interviewer is very kind and professional. She will help me figure out bugs in my code and give me hints to revise it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Firstly talked about the product-related question, asking about how to choose metrics to measure fresh content. There are many follow-up questions about this problem. Then there is a SQL and python test that is processed on CodePad. Lastly, there is a probability question asking how to explain the p-value to both technical and non-technical people,

Create an query to extract data from multiple tables.
I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pinterest (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2022
Interview
Case questions followed by python coding questions, then they asked some stats questions like 'how would you explain p-value to non-tech person'. They also asked followup product case questions like experiment design
