Recruiter phone screen and hiring manager interview. Didn't advance after meeting with the hiring manager.
I was really excited to interview with Peloton and for a role where I'm so passionate (diversity, equity, and inclusion). My experience with the recruiter was great - very communicative, transparent, and cheery demeanor (that always helps!). However, the hiring manager interview was terrible. Not only was she fully unprepared for our interview, but she was also pretty cavalier and unapologetic about it. Our interview was only 30 minutes, but because she hadn't bothered to look at my resume prior to our interview, she said "Alright my friend, let's see what you've got here..." and took the first 5 minutes or so just reading my resume. She then comments that "oh I see your experience is mainly in X", which was inaccurate and quite irrelevant to the role I was applying for. I immediately felt concerned. Then, she literally spent the next 20 minutes explaining the context of the role in detail. Which was really helpful insight to have, except once she started to finally ask me questions, we only had 5 more minutes of our interview to go. Her first and only question (because, time) "Tell me about yourself" and because a.) she completely misread and mischaracterized my experience and b.) she gave me a TON of new information that I was now trying to process, I felt pressure to not only correct her understanding of my experience, I tried to quickly do a mental reconfiguration of "and this is how my experience is relevant to all the new stuff you just told me about." I was flustered and I faltered big time - I totally own that.
That said, I've never had such an unprepared interviewer and one who monopolized the entire session. I obviously didn't have an opportunity to ask my own questions, which would've been important in the event that I had advanced to the next round.
