I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Payscale (Seattle, WA) in Apr 2019
Interview
After recruiter contacted me on Linkedin, we scheduled a call with the hiring manager. This call is to discuss a bit about your experience and also for you to know more about the team.
Next step is a hackerrank challenge you need to complete within 3 hours after starting. You do it any time you want, super convenient!
Then there is the full loop on site. People were SUPER nice and professional! Everybody knows interview loops can be stressful for candidates, but Payscale people do their best to make you feel comfortable and respected. By far one of my best experiences! The loop takes about 6 hours, including lunch. You should expect design questions, code implementation on white board and behavioral questions. It is intense. Be prepared for that. But as I said, everybody was super nice!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
System design, code implementation on white board or on a computer, behavioral questions.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payscale (Seattle, WA) in Nov 2018
Interview
The phone interview was with a team member and was a nice discussion. No real tough questions, just discussion of past experience and career goals.
I was pleased that they didn't fall into the trap of online code challenges (or code tests).
Unfortunately, he also had another meeting scheduled halfway through the interview and cut the interview short half way.
If he did have another meeting, they should have rescheduled the interview.
If it was that they found me lacking as the candidate, they should have come out and said that early and not waste my or their time.
Thank you for your honest feedback. It sounds like there was a miscommunication about the length of the phone interview. We schedule our phone interviews for 30 minutes. We’ll review our phone interview messaging template to ensure that we are messaging this correctly via our Applicant Tracking System. If you have any additional questions or feedback please let us know. Thank you!
