I went through 6 weeks of interviewing and was very clear up front as to my salary requirements. I was assured they were within range. When I finally got the offer it was significantly (tens of thousands of dollars) below what we spoke about and the role had been re-leveled. The recruiter never communicated any of this. Couldn’t explain where the miss was either.

I applied online. I interviewed at PayPal (San Jose, CA) in Jun 2020
Interview
Applied online and received an interview invite a few days later. The first interview was easy with typical HR questions. A few days later, I received an invite to video interview with a member of the hiring team which went well. About a week after that, I received an invite to the final round which was a half-day of interviews with the hiring team and hiring manager. These all seemed to go well.
Up until this point, the process was great. But this is where it went off the rails. HR initially indicated they would revert with a decision in 1-2 business days. After not hearing anything, I followed up a week later and was told "we will have next steps in a few days." This type of cat and mouse went on for over a MONTH, with HR constantly promising a decision shortly and pointing to various administrative delays. Of course, after a few weeks I realized it was probably a lost cause. What was most disappointing was that after all the time, effort, and follow-ups, I simply received an automated rejection email. So, I guess the lesson is don't get your hopes up -- they will string you along and keep fishing for other candidates.
To the internal recruiter's credit, they did always promptly reply to emails which is not the case for many companies, so props for that.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at PayPal in Jun 2020
Interview
I interviewed for a senior manager role in paypal. The job description changed in the middle of interview - between the manager phone screen and onsite. The director and the VP had no alignment on the job requisites. The VP asked me how old my child was - during the interview. That was very strange. Was she trying to guess my age? Overall, had a bad experience. the other senior people on the team were really good and asked intelligent questions.
