After applying for a customer solution position I received an email with an online assessment to be completed and submitted (Monday evening). On Tuesday morning I receive a phone call from an HR telling me I had passed the test, and she interviewed me for about 20 min. She left me saying that if I my application would have been successful for the next step I would have been contacted again within Friday week with a language assessment to complete and submit. I didn't hear back from anyone for two weeks, so I had already moved on with my job search, and Thursday (two weeks later) I receive another phone call from another HR, who said my CV had been given to her by my previous HR contact. I had to substain the same phone interview I had with the previous HR, and the phone call ended with my new contact taking an appointment for a face to face interview for the next day (Friday). Friday afternoon I went to the PayPal building in Blanchardstown for my interview, and as first thing I've been asked if I had taken the Language test. I told the interviewers that I had been told I would have had to take a language test, but that nobody had effectively tested me. At the end of the interview the interviewers told me that someone would have been in contact with me to take an appointment for a language test. As soon as I arrived home I followed up with the HR, and asked what were the next steps of the hiring process. She sent me an email with 3 documents (non disclosure agreement - background check form - paypal account check form) that I had to fill in and submit. Of course I didn't hear a single word from them for the whole weekend, but for personal reasons I needed to have a general idea of my application process, so I contacted some PayPal employes trough FB, and they all told me that the background check would have been the last step. On Monday morning I receive another form requireing more details for the background check, that I spent two hours of my life filling in. NB: the backgroud check takes up to 15 days to be completed. One hour after I submit the form I receive a phone call from the HR telling me they have already filled in the position.

It's not uncommon to do group interviews. Often, they will put you in a room with other people also applying for the job, and then have you do group tasks as a way of evaluating your interpersonal skills. Not everyone gets the same tasks but an example of something I had to do would be survival planning. The room was divided into 2 groups (my interview group was 8 people) and they gave a scenario where you're flying over Alaska when your plane crashes. You're not near any towns and so, if help is coming, it's going to take a long time and it's getting late. Here's a list of items that you or your fellow passengers have/found. Choose the 10 most important items and then sort them based on their importance. You had to be able to explain WHY it was important. Then you had to detail your plan on using those items. The purpose of this exercise was to get a feel for who was actively or passively participating. Who was problem-solving or keeping things organized? Was there confidence in peoples decision making and were they willing to/able to make a good argument for their point?
