Fairly standard interview process with an initial call covering the role's responsibilities, a take-home task, and a final technical interview with a panel.
There were quite a few red flags along the way. For example, I was told the take-home task would be sent in a week's time after the first interview, and then it was sent immediately following the interview instead. After completing the task, I was sent a mass e-mail along with other candidates saying I'd (we'd?) progressed to the next stage of the interviewing process, then OUP sent another e-mail saying the previous e-mail was incorrect and to disregard it. I did progress to the final stage in the end, but I assume other candidates didn't and OUP got their hopes up for nothing. Not professional in my book.
After being shortlisted as one of the final candidates, I proceeded to do an on-site interview. The questions were fair, but two members of the panel seemed disinterested, and I felt like they already had a preferred candidate. Quite a waste of time.
I never heard back from OUP with feedback (positive or negative), which adds to my feeling of their unprofessionalism. After three interviews over a month-long period, it's common courtesy to send at least a rejection.
