I interviewed for the Operations Associate, Regulatory Reporting position. I applied online, followed with a great phone conversation with a recruiter then I had a phone call with a hiring manager.
When speaking with hiring manager, he specifically mentioned that this is a ‘Data Architect’ position and expects a person to build regulatory reporting data platform from the ground. Data architect is a very technical/ engineering role that requires not just data analysis and process improvement skills but also technical understanding on database design/pipeline. Generally, I believe data engineers who have numbers of experience become Data Architect. His expectation didn’t match with what was described in the job description and I felt very bad as if I am under-qualified for the position that I applied.
I asked if there are any traits the hiring manger is seeking from a candidate to understand team culture and his values; his response was that he is looking for a data architecture…I got an automated rejection email the next day.
