      Project Manager Interview

      27 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Osaic (Phoenix, AZ) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I applied to the position online because this company had many excellent reviews. A recruiter from the HR has contacted me via email and asked for my available date and time for a phone interview. I replied to his email on the same day (Thursday), and I suggested to have a call on Monday between 2pm-4pm. He did not reply and did not call me. I sent a follow-up email to him early afternoon on Monday, but still no response. The recruiter finally replied to my email on Tuesday (he forgot to read my email). In the email, he said he would call me at 1pm on that day. I accepted it in my reply email. However, he never called me at 1pm. Many hours later, he texted to my phone, asking me to call him back right away if I was available. So I called him, but he said he was too busy and he would call me back later. More than an hour later, the recruiter called me and I happened to pick up the phone. We finally had a conversation for about 30 min. The recruiter said my background was excellent for the position I applied to, and he seemed to be happy with the information I provided. He promised that the hiring manager would phone-interview me within the next several days. 10 days have passed, but no one from Advisor Group contacted me for any updates. I sent a follow-up email to the recruiter to get some updates, but he no response. After another week has passed since my last email, he emailed me and asked if I was still interested in the position at Advisory Group. I replied that I would be interested if the hiring manager is interested in my application. Again, the recruiter never replied. I have encountered all types of HR professionals in many years of my career, but I have never met anyone who actually skipped a phone-interview at the agreed date and time (this recruiter did it multiple times and he did not even apologize). This recruiter on the phone sounded very young and inexperienced. Apparently, he has very poor communication skills, but what he did was totally unprofessional and irresponsible. It made me feel like he was playing games with me (indeed, his behavior reminded me of spam callers or teenage pranksters). I am no longer wasting my time with this company.

This is absolutely not the experience we want for candidates. If you are open to a conversation, I would really like to speak with you. Please reach out to me, Leigh McCluskey, VP of Talent Acquisition, through email (leigh.mccluskey@advisorgroup.com) so we can schedule something. Again, my sincere apologies that your experience to date has not been what we strive to deliver in recruiting talent for Advisor Group.
