      Technical Artist Interview

      29 May 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Londrina
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Oktagon Games (Londrina) in Apr 2021

      Interview

      Question 1

The scenario: there is a rocket crash on a hill surrounded by fog and two monkeys survived. ToDos ● This is a mobile project; ● Use URP lighting for this project; ● The style is cartoonish; ● Materials should be color only, no need for textures. Except for the monkeys; ○ You can use textures if you like, it’s up to you, but it is a low priority; ● The plane around the hills should look like a fog; ● One monkey should be running around using the animation provided; ● Place the other monkey still below the post light, swapping between idle and idleNasty animations; ● Optional: create some shader using HLSL coding; ● FXs: ○ Fire in the rocket engine (front part); ○ Smoke from the rocket turbine; ○ Sparkles from someplace in the rocket indicating damage; ○ Water coming out of the pipe from the wall; ○ Post light blinking sometimes; ○ Dust coming out of the steps from the running monkey; ○ Ambiance particles; ● Light and mood: ○ It’s your choice: day, night, golden hour, happy, sinister, etc. ○ Optional: bake + light and reflection probes ● Cameras: ○ Use Unity Timeline and/or Cinemachine to control the camera. ○ One high camera rotating around the hill, keeping it as the main subject; ○ Another camera close to the standstill monkey; ○ Another camera for the rocket; ○ Swap between them from time to time. ● UI: ○ Use Unity UI to set up controls for some of the ideas above. The test is a timebox of 32 work hours (4 workdays) over a 2 weeks period. The expectation is that you explore and showcase your creativity to make this scene great again within the time allotted.
