      UX Designer Interview

      16 Feb 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at OVO

      Interview

Very long process consisting of two videocalls with management and one final one hour long exercise to complete together with the team. Recruiter then disappeared and had to chase them for a review which was positive but no job offer. Disorganised and unprofessional behaviour from the company. Waste of people's time.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at OVO (London, England) in Sept 2020

      Interview

The interview consisted of four stages, all held via video call during the COVID. The process was clearly communicated from the start and I was provided with some good reference materials in preparation for the interview. I made it through the first two stages, which consisted of interviews with different members of the team, where we discussed my skills, experience and previous projects I had worked on. I was then invited to the third stage of the interview and asked to provide my availability for the following week, after providing that information I didn’t hear anything for a few days (this is where everything went quiet). I got in touch with my point of contact to find out what was going on. I was told that they were still completing first round interviews and will book me in for the next stage the following week. Slightly odd as I was at the 3rd stage but anyway. A week passed with no communication regarding when the next stage of the interview process would be. So I got in touch again only to be told the recruitment process has been stalled due to people on annual leave and being busy with projects, but could be looking at booking the next stage in the following week. Another week passed with no update, I then received a call from my point of contact simply stating they had given the job to another candidate. I’m not annoyed with losing out to another candidate that happens, but for the process to be dragged out as long as it did, being left in limbo with no updates and having to chase for information is just unprofessional, specially during a time when people are desperate to get back to work.
