      Application

I interviewed at Nestlé (Halifax, England)

      Interview

Application and Initial Contact The application process began smoothly with an online submission through the company’s career portal. Shortly after, I received an email from the HR team acknowledging the receipt of my application and informing me about the next steps. Within a week, I was invited for an initial phone screening. Phone Screening Interviewer: HR Representative Duration: 30 minutes The phone screening was straightforward and professional. The HR representative asked about my background, experience, and why I was interested in the role. They provided an overview of the company, the team, and the specific responsibilities of the process engineering position. The conversation was friendly and informative, giving me a good sense of what to expect next. Technical Interview Interviewers: Senior Process Engineer and Technical Manager Duration: 1 hour The next stage was a technical interview conducted over video call. This interview was more in-depth and focused on my technical skills and knowledge relevant to process engineering. Questions Covered: Experience with Process Optimization: I was asked to describe a past project where I optimized a manufacturing process. I detailed a project from my previous role where I improved the efficiency of a chemical reaction process, resulting in a 15% increase in yield. Problem-Solving Scenarios: The interviewers presented a hypothetical scenario involving a process bottleneck and asked how I would diagnose and address the issue. I explained my approach, emphasizing root cause analysis and the use of statistical process control tools. Technical Skills Assessment: They inquired about my proficiency with industry-specific software, such as CAD and simulation tools, and how I applied these in previous roles. Safety and Compliance: Safety is crucial in process engineering, so they asked about my experience in ensuring safety and compliance with regulations in past projects. The interviewers were knowledgeable and approachable, making it a comfortable environment to discuss technical topics. They also shared insights into the challenges and projects their team was currently facing, which was enlightening.
