I got the call for participation in recruitment process of NTT DATA for the post of graduate software trainee through AMCAT.
AMCAT scores was used to shortlist students based on their quantitative aptitude , logical analysis and English scores. ( It's pretty easy if you have a sound experience of gong through such tests )
I was called at the venue at 8.30 AM . they started their presentation at 10.30 AM with around 20-25 professionals in their team , ranging from VP to senior HR personnel's . the presentation session was interactive and they pretty much told us everything regarding the company revenues to it's area of working and other stuff.
then they send us for the GD process. there were around 21 batches with 12 students in each batch . the round was done in around 20-25 minutes with a healthy discussion. They just checked the communication skills , conviction and knowledge about the topic.
GD results were announced within 5 minutes.
for the next round we were given a couple of forms to fill out. like marks , college name and stuff like that. and another form for filling out your strengths , weakness etc. ( they used this form quite comprehensively ,as it turned out , in HR and technical round too ).
Then we were called for technical interview. there were simultaneous interviews going on in different rooms with results announced within 15-20 minutes.
In my technical interview , firstly he asked me to brief him about myself. then he asked me that it's written in the form that i have a history of an arrears . I told him that it was unexpected and i have sound knowledge of that subject. It turned out that he was from the same university of mine , so he said he can understand and it doesn't matter. then he asked me about everything that was in my resume , ranging from different courses i have done to my industrial training and the competitions i have participated in ( technical ) . He was impressed by those stuff but a bit apprehensive because all that was from electronics background ( my branch is electronics and communication ). then he asked me a few basic questions from C / C++ , like inheritance , abstraction and pointers etc. then he finally asks me to give hima good reason as to why i want to join an IT company besides from an electronics background ( since i had mentioned to him that i aspire to do my MS in embedded tech) , i gave him a solid analogy and reason and he was impressed and told me to immediately head for HR round.
after 10 mins I was in front of my HR interviewer , who itself was a senior software engg.
He again asks me to tell him about myself. Then he asks me some parts of my previous achievements and participation mentioned in my resume.
Then he asked me a simple yet tricky question that , If i was given a radio and a TV , and am asked that he wants to listen to TV audio output from the Radio. I explained to him how actually the TV and radio are working and then to attune the TV bandwidth acquisition to the TV bandwidth acquisition . He praised me for my approach and briefed me about what i would be going through in my role as a trainee in the company. He said i can ask him any questions and so i did.
ultimately , HR round was a piece of cake and it was over under 20 mins.
overall results of all the candidates were given after 30-40 minutes ( since some students had to take the HR interview rounds again , in front of their VP and other people ) .
out of 250 participants , around 50 were selected.
and offer letters were handed to us immediately.
overall it was a wonderful experience and am looking forward to work in the company , hpeful for a positive and learning environments.
