I had an initial warm conversation with the CEO of the company and then I decided to come down to shadow and see how the operation runs. I thought this is fair because my last was position was not a good fit for me. We discussed salary (more on this in a bit). I’ve been agreed to come and shadow for two days equaling 16 hours unpaid. I was OK with one day but I thought two days was a little much since I am an experienced therapist. I observed a therapist that used so many F bombs with her client that I was truly appalled. It was unprofessional.
I informed the CEO that I was initially interested in continuing on with accepting the position until my salary offer was given. It was at least 20,000 lower than I am used to making in this area. I voiced my concerns on increasing my salary and ultimately the company could not make it happen. I walked away a happier person because I value work life balance and I saw in this role that this potentially would not happen. The therapist’s lunch hour is dedicated to catching up on notes. Who cares about a free lunch if you’re burnt out?
