The interview was a job fair at my university. I scheduled it ahead of time. It was one-on-one with one of the Microsoft engineers that came to the job fair. This was aimed at recent graduates, so probably the difficulty of the questions reflects that.

Question 1
How can you find the middle element of a singly-linked list in linear time?
Straightforward technical loop overall, with strong interviewers at every stage. I genuinely enjoyed the in-depth conversations around technical challenges and algorithmic problem-solving — the entire process felt well-structured and genuinely engaging.
The interview was a long process. There was first the recruiter screen, which was followed by a 4-loop interview structure that covered technical, behavioral, and system design. The interviewers were very kind and accommodating.
