I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Microlise (Nottingham, England) in Aug 2019
Interview
The assessment day was really fun and the people running it made me feel welcome. The tasks were challenging but there was plenty of support, and everyone was also very approachable and friendly.
The application process was fairly short with an online application and a supporting statement. After this I was invited to an assessment day in Nottingham, which you had to complete a core values form for in advance.
The day consisted of an introduction to the company, two group / paired programming tasks, two interviews and lunch. During the tasks you were taken out for a short interview with two of the assessors and a longer 1:1 interview about the completed core values form. At the end of the day there was a tour of the site.
For the first task we were given an outline of the requirements of what we were to complete. As a group you then worked on completing this, and we were able to ask questions about the requirements etc.
The second task was paired programming. The requirements remained the same as the previous task however they showed you a different approach to completing it, which made it seem less complicated. For this there were current graduate employees sat with us to help when needed. This task in particular was very fun and although it was fast-paced it felt relaxed.
