I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Methanology (Neuhausen am Rheinfall) in May 2022
Interview
I had sent an unsolicited application via the online form they have on their website ;explaining my academic background (chemistry+sustainability) and that I was seeking an entry level/internship position and I received an email where they had invited me for a remote interview via zoom which I accepted. The two co-founders were both present the day of the interview, and the CTO of the company opened the session with a ppt presentation. Right after, I was asked to introduce myself and to explain my motivations for applying. I had hardly finished my speech, that I was stormed with the angry voice of the CTO and I quote "thanking me for my short introduction" and this attitude kept going all along the interview ;whenever I say something the CTO starts shouting at me and giving me mean comments. The second interviewer "CEO" was not harsh, however, his questions were rather sarcastic, asking me about my abilities to develop an application and if I can provide them with my GitHub profile so that they can check my work, all that because I stated coding for leisure and that I had some training in few programming languages as part of my curriculum, knowing that I had never presented myself as an app developer when I sent my application besides not hearing any question regarding of my knowledge of chemistry, although I had invested time reading the research paper on which is based their business for preparation purposes. I had also prepared a couple of questions for the end of the interview, but I had decided to shorten them as I was feeling the bad mood and the unresponsiveness of the CTO. Prior to leaving the call, I thanked them for their time, and I was again shocked by the attitude of the CTO, telling his CEO if he has 3 minutes of his time to allocate to my case and giving me a nasty look while I was about to hang up and literally blowing air at my face. I naturally had not received any feedback after the interview only when I sent a follow-up email and no explicit reason was provided as per the rejection of my application, i.e . a very generic template. I which I could come up with gentle words to describe this experience, nevertheless this was genuinely the most unpleasant interview experience I have ever had and the rudest, most brutal interviewer I have ever met whom I don't understand the motives for such a horrible attitude. N.B : I forgot to add that the CEO of the company was asking me if I was willing to come to their premises for 4 days, so that they can test me (probation period) although I stated living in another country than theirs.
