I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Meetup (New York, NY) in Sept 2013
Interview
The interview process was long (three hour long interviews) for an entry-level position. I feel like the interview process could be expedited. The interview process aims to see how much of a cultural fit you are at Meetup.
The interview was conducted by a new hire who did not know the company well so that was an initial red flag. It was very scripted and the conversation was generic. I asked about the follow up and never heard back from them. I respect companies who professionally follow up with someone who took the time to go through the application and interview process with "we have moved forward with another candidate" at the very least. When a company lacks professionalism, it just shows me that I do not want to work for them.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meetup (New York, NY) in Oct 2016
Interview
I was referred to the role by someone I knew in the department and made it to an in-person interview after a phone screening. This company exudes happiness; it is a bit of "perks" environment with the open-layout and "beer fridge" environment that I'm trying to transition out of.
What I was a little surprised to hear is that they expect applicants to be committed to a "Community Support" role and not look at it as a transitional phase; from what I understand it is really just customer support in a different package! I think enthusiasm and transparency can only go so far if they're REALLY being honest about what the tasks entails instead of glorifying it during the interview without letting the reality of work speak for itself.
Overall, great communication throughout and appreciated being told that they took someone else through a very polite phone call.
