I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Cheshunt, England) in Oct 2018
Interview
Online application included a lot of questions, however it tells you if you are successful at the end and allows you to book a slot for an interview.
On the day there was two parts to my interview. First was a standard interview. Most questions were pretty straightforward but I would prepare examples for their 4 I’s values. I was interviewed by a manager whilst someone else wrote down my answers.
The second part was the role play, where you are the costumer assistant and the interviewer plays the costumer whilst someone else writes notes. Before it starts you are allowed 10 minutes where you are left to read 5 sheets of paper and the opportunity to make notes. They will ask for things that are sold out and just make sure you offer alternatives and then upsell other products. After this they leave the room and you are given a sheet to fill in what you thought went well and what you could improve on.
Following on from this they returned and offered me a job. We then filled out a sheet with uniform size, availability etc.
Overall the process probably took about an hour. The hours I applied for were different
to the ones they could offer me on the day so In the end I had to decline the offer.
Quick process for temp. Christmas staff. Initial online application which I had to fill out, process very easy, then in store with typical customer service questions and role play, finally training which took just over two days.

Marks and Spencer
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Reading, England) in Sept 2018
Interview
I applied online and was offered an interview the following day. The interview itself involved a role-play situation in which I was given a booklet containing a hypothetical scenario and products that I would assist a "customer" with. I had to assist a customer with buying a product. The key was to up-sell and be friendly and polite!
After successfully passing this, I then had a one to one interview with a section manager. This was fairly straightfoward interview stuff. Make sure to research the Four I's beforehand.
I was offered the job on the spot.
