I applied online. I interviewed at Mainstay (CA) in Nov 2025
Interview
I applied online and received a calendar link a few days later to schedule an HR screening call. Scheduled for early the following week.
An hour before the interview, the recruiter emailed saying she was sick and needed to reschedule. Totally understandable. People get sick. I immediately replied with six different time slots over the next few days. No response. After three days, I followed up with updated availability for the following week. Still nothing. Three days later, I sent another email with more options. Still no reply.
Meanwhile, I'd connected with her on LinkedIn thinking maybe my emails weren't getting through or she was out sick for an extended period. She was actively posting daily, engaging with content, and entering HR giveaway contests.
After getting no responses to multiple emails, I went back to the original scheduling link and rebooked myself. That seemed to work - got a confirmation and prepped for the conversation.
Five minutes before our scheduled Google Meet, the recruiter finally emailed back saying her "internet was spotty" and asked if she could call instead. She also asked for my cell number, which was listed at the top of my resume. The 2pm interview started five minutes late.
The call itself was fine, mostly her talking about the role and company with a few standard questions mixed in (why this role, tell me about yourself, etc.). At the end, she said she was meeting with the hiring manager the next day and would follow up by end of day the following day.
That day came and went. Then another day. A week later, I received an automated rejection email.
The lack of basic follow-through and professional courtesy throughout this process - from the initial reschedule request through the final update - was disappointing. If this is how candidates are treated during the interview process, it raises questions about internal operations and communication.

Why do you want to work here?

Interview
For a company that just got here yesterday, they have all of the chaos of a seasoned company when it comes to their recruitment.
Get ready to have your time wasted, they WILL ghost you and then tell you the job is closed. Applied and many weeks later after meeting with HR got rejected. Even did a follow-up with no answer.
For as many questions as they ask you to interview, one would think they had it all together. Instead you get "After careful consideration, we have closed the recruitment for this position." WHY are you even interviewing candidates?!?
Give this company the bare minimum of responses and your time. If they're giving homework, they should be paying us as contractors.
The nicest thing I can say, is bless their heart.
