The initial call with the recruiter was nice and informative. Then here comes the take-home assignment about creating a test for a public API of your choice, I thought the liberty of this assessment reflects the company culture.
Moving forward to the interview via zoom on the following week, the first interviewee which is the QA manager joined 3 mins late then the QA lead joined 3 mins later (red flag). I would expect since this is a zoom call they can turn ON the camera to engage the conversation, but not in this case. So I decided to ask politely to turn off my camera(another red flag).
The interviewee never introduces themself and what they do in MNTN. I asked many questions including culture and mostly I have gotten very poor answers with not much explanation (red flag again).
Keep in mind, I did so many interviews in the past as well as become an interviewee both online and on-site. This is my worse experience so far, good job MNTN!
They ask technical questions about how to test API and DB verbally without any diagrams or pictures. I can understand that and they might want to measure how well your communication and your listening skill.
Suggestion: Treat the candidate with respect since they spend time on both the take-home assessment and the interview. I did not upset because I did not get an offer but even though I got an offer, I definitely will not move forward because of this experience.
