The interview process started with a 30 minute initial phone screen with an HR business partner, then proceeded to a 30 minute zoom meeting with the hiring manager. Then, I was scheduled to talk with 10 people separately for 30 min each. Overall, I think everyone's time could have been used more efficiently and respectfully. Most of the interviewers asked the same culture based questions, and in my experience, it works well to pair up interviewers in that situation. I will say that most of the interviewers were very upfront with the morale struggles the team had been having, which I appreciate. Multiple people mentioned to me that years of experience matter at Lyell more than someone's actual level of ability, and that was confirmed when the HR business partner told me that my current title was inflated.
