      Applications Security Engineer Interview

      4 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sunnyvale, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Sunnyvale, CA) in Oct 2017

      Interview

LinkedIn had a very patchy interview process. I got a call from the recruiter who was superlative in their skills when it came to selling the role. They will call you and talk endlessly on the phone about the role, the company, as if on auto-mode. And then silence. Several reminders and they will schedule an interview - telephonic where 2 easy to medium difficulty questions are asked. The bar was low in my case. Got a quick response the next day about the positive feedback, and then again wait for 2 -3 weeks for an onsite invitation. Reminders begin again. Finally onsite happens. 2 rounds of coding - medium difficulty (all from leetcode), one project discussion, one design round, and one with a very young, haughty manager, who seemed to be too pleased to have become one at this early stage. And now comes the worst -> No response. Never got one. And to make matters worst, I exchanged some 10 emails to get reimbursed for the trip. It was the worst experience of my entire interviewing career. Glad I got picked up by a much better company along with several other offers. One takes time off to travel, spend an entire day for the interview and it's fair to expect what the final outcome was (forget about the feedback).
