I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LifeFoundry in Oct 2023
Interview
Lengthy. initial call, data challenge and longer interview including a technical presentation. The data challenge was not straightforward and required lots of assumptions to be made - I didn't get much feedback around my answers.

Interview
The first two interviews with the HR and one of the co-founders were perfect. Normal interview questions and I can say they were willing to move forward to the next stage. The co-founder even asked me if I had time to visit the company after the third interview. Then the third interview was the most ridiculous one I have ever had. The other co-founder was a Chinese guy and he was like, how was your internship with the previous company? And what sequencing machines does this company use? Why they chose this one instead of others? What protocol did you follow for NGS? I was like: excuse me? ??How do I know why they chose a certain type of machine? Is this something I am supposed to know as a research associate intern? And the reason behind purchasing certain type of machine has NOTHING to do with the position I applied for! It made me feel like he just wanted some business secrets and free counseling through the interview. He attended this interview in his car and a person who was not HR (seems more like his friend) was sitting next to him listening to all of these. Very unprofessional!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why did your previous company purchase this type of sequencing machine instead of the other?
Which NGS protocol did you follow in your previous company?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at LifeFoundry (Pleasanton, CA) in Dec 2023
Interview
The interview process was a huge disappointment. Constant lack of communication when it came time to schedule anything, they ghosted
my email replies on several occasions. Once I made it through the interview process, I had my start date with the promise of a 30hr work week so I put my two weeks in at my current job, except now here is the problem, the Friday before I was supposed to start they changed the working hours from 30 to 20hrs a week. I asked if the following weeks would meet the 30hrs we had agreed upon and the response was something to the effect of maybe. Maybe does not pay the bills! I realized it would cause a huge financial burden to leave my 40 hr a week job for 20hrs a week plus a pay cut. I reached out to let them know I couldn’t move forward with a 20hr work week but I was happy to continue as a contractor until they had enough hours. They decided to cut all ties with me and told me they no longer had work for me even though I was in the middle of trying to move their equipment cross country. I would not recommend this company to any office admin.
