      Procurement Graduate Interview

      14 Feb 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Surbiton, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Lidl (Surbiton, England) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Quick online maths/multitasking test, followed by a hirevue. Assessment day was in person at Lidl House in Surbiton. Pretty early start in the morning considering the relatively poor accessibility of the office (8:30 am). Assessment was in two parts, one presentation and one interview. In the presentation they asked you to present for 15 minutes on a single project you had done in the past that you felt demonstrated transferable skills to procurement. You were given 30 minutes to prepare with A3 paper and markers, then 15 minutes to present (penalised for being short on time), followed by 10 minutes of questions. The interview was fit based, and fairly standard. They were focussed on your past experiences more so than anything else. Having a presentation task focussed on your past experiences and then an hour long interview centred around your past experiences felt redundant. There was no technical aspect or seemingly any interest in gaging one's technical abilities. It was all about what you had already done in the past. I felt this was strange considering this was a graduate position. I received feedback that I had clearly willing to learn, and that my examples had been good but not procurement based. Understandable feedback if this were an experienced hire position, arguably less so for graduates.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. What is your favourite Lidl store and why? 2. (immediate follow up). What could be improved with the store/ what would you change? 3. Talk me through your CV.

      Interview

The interview process in itself was really well run however found the communication after to be frustrating and minimal. I did not feel as though the feedback provided had really had an effort put into it.

Can you talk me through the stages of the procurement process if we wanted to buy new tables for the office?

      Interview

Had to do a skills assessment which lasted around 12 minutes, I cannot remember what was in the assessment too clearly however it was fairly simple and easy to do.
