Unprofessional Hiring Process
I interviewed with LAYER around two years ago for an Industrial Designer position. I was asked to complete a week-long design project as part of the process, despite them knowing I was already employed full-time. I dedicated my time, delivered the assignment as requested, and waited for feedback.
After following up twice via email, I never received any response—not even a rejection. Ghosting candidates after asking them to complete unpaid work is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.
If a company requires candidates to invest significant effort in a take-home project, the bare minimum they should do is provide constructive feedback or at least a proper response. Unfortunately, LAYER failed in both regards.
I would advise future applicants to carefully consider whether it's worth investing their time in an interview process that lacks basic professionalism and communication.
