I was invited in to meet with the CEO on Thursday afternoon. I was told by HR that he was just finishing up the first round of interviews, and the second round would consist of meeting with some of the 9 Presidents that work under the CEO. The interview went well (almost 2 hours), and the next morning (Friday) I was invited back for a second interview. I had been very open that I was currently in a consulting position that was winding down. The second interview was scheduled for two business days later (Tuesday) without checking with my schedule. When I responded that I could not make a mid day Tuesday interview, but rather was free the last two days of the week, I was immediately informed that they had decided to go with another candidate. While I suspect this was a lie, I find it unfortunate that a firm couldn't respect the commitment I had made to my consulting work and see it as a sign of my character, dedication, and loyalty to employers. I don't believe these are characteristics that are important to this employer.
