      Workday Associate Consultant Interview

      11 Mar 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newton, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Kognitiv Inc. (Newton, MA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Had a phone interview with the CEO in Dec 18 , it went well & he told me he’d invite me to an on-site interview early Jan. Half of Jan passed & I was contacted by a partner, saying he wants to schedule a time for me to talk on the phone (instead of promised on-site). Spoke with him on Jan 21 for 40 minutes & he said he too would want me to come in for in-person interview. Got an email from him 4 days later to schedule an interview in two weeks possibly the week of Feb/4 & I gave him my preference for 2/5. Then, when I wasn’t contacted by him to set the exact time by 2/4, I emailed asking for specifics of the interview. With a lot of back and forth emails, we arranged a time for Feb 12 & he said it would take 2-3 hours & I’ll meet with X, Y & possibly one more person. He also said that as he mentioned before (which he never did!) the interview entails an Excel test. Snow was just started when I went in & since snow was in the forecast from days before, when the partner said “we’ll try to get you out soon because of snow”, I knew that this was a fake interview on their behalf! (Because people can work or interview, snow or no snow, we’re living in Massachusetts, we have to deal with it). But for my sake & other people like whoever is reading, I decided to stay. First, met with X who didn’t even stated his position at the firm and for his first question, he saw it fit to ask ‘where are you from?!’(Which is highly unethical! They had my resume & he knew l’m from Iran). when I answered, his face changed & then asked more personal questions from my life & if I know how to ski?! He laughed when I said no! (I don’t see why anyone has to be a skier to work as a consultant LOL). For his first actual interview question he asked where I found the job, as the others before him asked the same question, I think all of them were wondering why they don’t have many applicants! (Only 10 in 3 months). My guess is they’re weak SEO-wise (keep changing their job description to get more people applying )& company’s location is way off from where most people would be interested in. X continued with typical interview questions like talk about your resume & etc. Then gave me the Excel test, but didn’t give me any privacy or time specifications, sat next to me & kept staring at my work which made me nervous & when he observed I have some difficulty, I said I’m stressed out & he sarcastically said what are you nervous about?!. Yeah maybe he doesn’t understand people get nervous at interviews because maybe he himself was never interviewed before!. Next, instead of told Y, I was Interviewed by two undergrads & seven months juniors (a girl & a guy), which was insulting to me as a graduate. They same went through the same questions asked in the previous 3 interviews & at the end the guy asked why should we hire you?, I wanted to say you’re a junior & you don’t have the power to hire anyone but of course I didn’t. This interview with two juniors should normally be about them explaining the position & answering any questions the interviewee might have about their experience with the company, which never happened & was another obvious sign that the whole interview was fake!. Previous point was proven to me, when afterwards the partner met with me & asked for my feedback about the 2 juniors & said this was the first time he put them up for something like this. Oh great! It sounded like something you wanted to hear, that they used you to train their employees!. The interview that was supposed to be 2-3 hours, only took 65 minutes & at that point, I already gave up on any hope to be hired. But, he went on &said he would contact me by end of the week for the next steps & asked if I’m still interested & when I can start to work. I think anyone’s understanding would be the company is interested too. I wasn’t contacted by Kognitiv by the end of the week. The following week, I saw on LinkedIn that they hired a person remotely from Alabama for the position. Since normally people apply for jobs in their area & the person wasn’t from Massachusetts region, in my opinion, that hiring could have only been based on relationships/nepotism. Even after hiring two people for the position, they hadn’t have the courtesy to email & update me. After 4weeks of the in-person interview, I received an email from CEO to let me know they don’t want me & they’ll keep my resume on file. Thanks, but no thanks! Like it was such a great experience the first time to begin with. The issue isn’t about me not getting hired, it’s about them wasting my time for three months with slow communication & using me for the purpose of legal formalities to avoid lawsuits about hiring based on possible discrimination and/or relationship. Just go on LinkedIn & take a look at employee profiles, they knew each other one way or another (same university or previous employer). Thus, if you don’t know anyone at Kognitiv, don’t bother applying.
