The process started with an initial HR screening, followed by a technical assessment, and then a final interview with senior team members from them.
The assessment instructions were clear, and I completed the task based strictly on the written requirements and provided resources. I focused on delivering a clean, well-structured solution aligned with the scope that was defined.
During the final interview, the feedback suggested that they were expecting additional features or enhancements beyond what was explicitly stated in the assessment. This created some misalignment between the written requirements and the expectations discussed during the call. It also felt like there was limited time dedicated to reviewing the submission in depth beforehand, so the conversation did not go deeply into architectural decisions, trade-offs, testing strategy, or overall engineering approach, which I was hoping to discuss as a senior candidate.
For future applicants, I would recommend clarifying early on whether the team expects you to strictly follow the requirements or proactively extend the solution beyond the given scope. Aligning on that upfront could help avoid mismatched expectations later in the process.
