An opening was posted for this position and I sent my resume in the same day. I was excited to see how quick the person responded. We set up an interview, and I went in on Tuesday(today) of the following week. We'll, things went downhill from there. I arrived at the gallery only for the woman in charge to tell me that the person who quit their job wanted their job back. Apparently she didn't have "time" to contact me to cancel the interview even though she learned that the worker would return the Friday before the interview on today. How unprofessional!!!! She stated that she'd still like to talk to me anyway.
The whole time she attempted to discourage me in my career path as an artist. Stating how hard it is getting into galleries and landing a job. She also used the second employee as an example of this, saying how the employee was in the art field then switched to real estate. She suggested that I get an internship to learn certain programs galleries use since the university gallery I worked in in nothing like their gallery. I'll have her to know despite it being a university gallery, it had a professional setting with both artists based in Chicago and internationally. And we made sales! I don't know if she pulled this excuse due to discrimination (I'm African American and they were both white), but what she did was wrong and unprofessional! You guys are a joke!!!!
