      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jacobs in Nov 2017

      Interview

It was an assessment day. There was a presentation by Jacobs, followed by a group activity, followed by a panel interview. There were three of us in the group activity, simple task but you had 3 employees in the room supervising, one of which is a Jacobs recruiter. The one to one was ok, not to nerve wrecking, they help you a lot, and very friendly and down to earth interview. I can't remember all the questions but it consists of competency questions, CV probing and one technical question.

      Highways Graduate Engineer Interview

      17 Jun 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cardiff, Wales
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Jacobs (Cardiff, Wales) in Apr 2019

      Interview

The process was Long winded and painful. After countless applications I was finally invited for an interview at the cardiff office in April. Landing an interview as a non-european candidate (that would not require visa sponsorship) was an absolute struggle at this company compared to competitors (Motts and Arup where I was easily invited to interviews during the same cycle) even with excellent results and relevant work experience. I was asked the weirdest questions during the interview which bordered on insulting. My comprehension of English language was also questioned. Two weeks after the interview I received a phone call from their HR who was oblivious to the fact i had already interviewed 2 weeks ago for a grad role. The only reason she called was to ask me not to apply for graduate roles as these were “more permanent” roles best suited for people who will live in the UK indefinitely (read natives). She also asked me to consider more experienced roles as these pay more than the graduate roles! No questions about my current situation, or career aspirations were asked. It took them nearly 2 months to issue a rejection email and provide feedback which said managers thought i was more suited to a structural engineer role, one for which i have not been interviewed nor asked any technical questions about. I am not sorry i wasn’t hired only that i wasted my time and energy applying to Jacobs. Doesn’t seem like an inclusive or ethical company to me with narrow minded individuals in more than one department. Fairly confident I dodged a bullet.
