My interview experience with Insight Global was confusing and honestly a bit disappointing. I initially applied for a position through a LinkedIn post. The first recruiter I spoke to was professional and pleasant, which gave me a good first impression. However, things went downhill from there.
The second recruiter contacted me an hour before my scheduled interview, which was unexpected and unprofessional. During our conversation, it became clear she had little to no knowledge of the Portland, OR area. You would expect a recruiter to research, especially if they're staffing for that region. She also seemed unfamiliar with several major companies I've worked for, which was surprising considering their prominence in the area.
Despite my experience and qualifications, she told me I wasn’t a good fit for the role. Oddly enough, just a few hours later, I was offered a very similar position at a competing firm. That contradiction made me question how much effort or understanding actually went into the evaluation.
I also tried reaching out to the first recruiter for clarification throughout the day, but I received very little in response. Overall, the lack of communication and professionalism from the second recruiter left me with a negative impression of the process.
