      Recruiter Interview

      10 Jan 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Insight Global (Washington, DC) in Jan 2013

      Interview

When I got to Insight Global I was ushered into a room with two chairs and a table in between and a phone. It was like an interrogation room. The recruiter I had been talking to came in and introduced himself (really nice guy) then asked if I had any questions before I got started. Once we chatted a bit I met with a sales manager and all she asked me was "tell me a little about yourself" and "what do you know about the company?" She did not try and elaborate on any of my answers and did not seem to try and get to know me as a candidate at all, instead it felt like a sales pitch about how much money I could potentially make at the company. I was not impressed and it frankly turned me off that she did not try and get to know me on a personal level. Instead I asked her question after question for almost an hour and it really felt like I was running the interview- which my recruiter told me it would be conversational but it was more me interviewing her about the company. Then after an hour and a half I could tell she was sick of me grilling her with questions and told me she had to go take a conference call. An account manager then came in and told me that she had to leave in fifteen minutes because she had a conference call right then. She too did not try and get to know me as potential recruiter instead asked me what questions I had for her, I then started asking her some questions and after 45 minutes of talking she told me she had to tend to a conference call. She walked me to the front door and thanked me for coming in. It was all very unprofessional to me. I did not even get to see anything beyond that little room so I never got a feel for the office. I got a call back from my recruiter the next day and said that he had gotten feedback from my interview and they said I was sharp, outgoing, and social, but just thought they had a few people ahead of me that would be a better fit and moving onto the second round. He also told me they had interviewed about 80 people that week so I did well overall but were really only hiring 1-2 people out of that 80 and I was their 4th choice. Nice people but I was not impressed with their office, location, or the whole process and was not interested in pursuing them after five minutes of talking with the sales manager. I got the feeling she did not like me asking such tough questions about her company.

      Recruiter Interview

      12 Mar 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Insight Global (Denver, CO) in Mar 2026

      Interview

Started with an initial meeting over Microsoft Teams; Recruiter interviewed me twice before offering an in person interview. The in person interview was much more interpersonal, they had me meet the team and introduced me to everyone on the floor. When the actual interview started it seemed they were scanning my personal communication skills without be prudent to my abilities to complete the job. I was invited back for a shadow/lunch session, this was another test environment of my personal communication skills. I felt this environment was supportive but felt off, I appreciated the time to interview but was told multiple times; "We believe you have the technical ability to complete the job." I was told the day after that they were moving forward with other candidates. I completed a total of six interviews for this position with arguably more effort and time spent than I would like to interview. The shadow session and lunch interview took nearly 4 hours of my time (travel, parking, interview, lunch, shadowing time). I wouldn't spend this much time in pursuit of a position I was not going to be offered. Indirectly I never was able to speak with anyone in the office I was interviewing at previous to the interviews themselves. My recruiter operated as a liaison to me and the office without direct connection with the office.
