The recruiter reached out proactively to court me. He was lovely and very responsive, but they put me through 6 interviews and a writing test over several months, then called to let me know feedback from all was exceptionally positive. After a week of nothing, got a call in the evening saying they had decided to rescope the role and repost it, but reassured me it was no fault of my own (despite the fact that I qualify for the rescoped role as well, a point that I didn’t bother making because I was frankly over it at that point). Leaders I interviewed with were very nice but didn’t seem to be clear on their overall strategy or where they are taking the team. There also seem to be some internal tensions and politics at play on the team. Illumina is still a great company but the internal chaos is definitely something to keep in mind! I don’t think I’d consider a role there after the experience.
