The interview process seemed excessively long and drawn out. I submitted an application online and a few days later a recruiter reached out asking to schedule a phone screening. We scheduled it for 2 weeks later. The phone screening was some standard questions asking about my background/experience and telling me about the company. They asked me why I was interested in IXL. The recruiter, however, couldn't answer any of my questions about the role or team. After that, they got back to me a few days later and scheduled a video interview with someone on the design team for 1 week later. I sent a follow-up email thanking them for the phone call and asking what the expectations are for the next interview, but they didn't email me back. The interview was again standard questions about my background, and I had the opportunity to ask questions about the role and team. He seemed like he was disinterested in the interview from the very beginning and wanted to rush through it. Then he asked me to present a case study. Halfway through my presentation, he interrupted/stopped me and asked "What would you do if you didn't have access to data?" In my presentation, I was talking about how I use data to inform my design decisions. A few days after the interview they emailed me to inform me that they were going with another candidate. Overall, the interview process wasn't the worst, but it didn't feel as professional as it should've been. Unfortunately, the person I had my video interview with was a bit rude.
