The first screen was a behavioral interview, but the experience felt more like the recruiter was interviewing me just to check a box or hit a quota rather than genuinely evaluating fit.
Right from the start, it was clear she had not reviewed my resume or basic details beforehand, including where I lived. That immediately made the conversation feel awkward, uncomfortable, and impersonal. Instead of feeling welcomed as a candidate, I felt unprepared for and unwanted in the process.
A little preparation and professionalism would have gone a long way in creating a better candidate experience.
