      Senior Product Manager, CPQ Interview

      16 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

Overall the process took 1.5 months. I had a call with a recruiter. The usual screening call. She came back to me quickly and moved me to the next one with the Hiring manager for the position. That happened 2 weeks later. We had a nice conversation digging into how I build projects, how I define strategy, product discovery, etc. I got immediate feedback from the recruiter on the next day that I'd be moving to their final round of interviews. That for some reason took 2 weeks to schedule and finally happened 4 weeks after the second interview. It took 3.5 hours, 4 separate sessions with the hiring manager and 3 other people. All of them were nice people, some of them more experienced than others, but generally was left with a good impression of the people in Hubspot. I also thought the interviews went well but I wasn't offered the job at the end. At least they provided me with some reasoning for not making the offer which I appreciated. It would have been nicer to call me in person rather than send an email at 5.30 in the morning (the recruiter was in Ireland) when the rejection was the first thing to see at the dawn of the day. All in all, the people were nice, the product seemed nice too and I was left with the impression Hubspot is a nice company to spend time in. The recruitment process was way to heavy, not only because of the time it took me (the recruiter apologized at some point that it doesn't usually take that long) but they were sending me materials to go over and prepare for the upcoming interviews which were out of line totally. They send me a list of topics and questions for each topic in that long session interview to prepare for them. Well, I did prepare and I don't consider it a waste of my time but none of these particular questions/topics were ever raised.

      Question 1

Pick a software product you love or hate: get ready to dig into it. You can pull something up on your computer or phone and have a deep conversations around why you like or dislike it.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and sorry for the delayed follow up on my end. There are a couple of points that resonated - on the one hand, I'm glad that our team shared a great deal of resources to help you prepare for the interview and set you up for success. While the process did seem a bit drawn out in terms of the full process, especially when one step takes 2 weeks to schedule, I'm glad you had a chance to interview with several members of the team. Your point on the preparation you received not lining up with the questions you were asked in the interview is definitely a miss on our part, so I appreciate the feedback and will take it back to the team to ensure we're aligned going forward. Thanks for the feedback and best of luck in your search. Best, Becky
