I have been working at HubSpot full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

HubSpot is the best place I've ever worked, before thoughts drift toward this sounding fluffy, hear me out: -HubSpot offers flexibility unlike like I've ever had at past employers. Being a working parent this is one of the several difference makers in my day to day. If I need to leave early or come in late, no one ever questions it. This comes from setting a standard of trust within all HubSpot employees. It's expected...

    Cons

There is a great deal of change that happens constantly, this has produced great results over time but if new processes and products aren't in your wheelhouse HubSpot likely won't be a fit.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look for what will help our customers grow while helping employees produce at a high level.

I have been working at HubSpot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Yes - there are incredible benefits such as unlimited vacation, barista service, a smoothie bar, snacks galore, etc - but those aren't the true perks of HubSpot. From my experience, I find that Hubspot as an organization truly values its employees - and the Service Org is certainly no exception. I've never been a part of an organization that focuses so much on its talent, offering vast learning opportunities as well...

    Cons

This isn't a con, but a general note to new hires: you're the captain of your growth and development here, so it's truly worthwhile to take advantage of the many opportunities (such as HubSpot's learning and development programs).

I have been working at HubSpot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great deal of autonomy as an individual contributor or manager to work on high impact projects - Great focus on career growth, and plenty of opportunities to grow as the company does

    Cons

No major complaints. Things can feel a bit chaotic at times due to the growth of the company and change within the actual product, but the change is almost always for the better and things feel like they constantly improve.

    Advice to Management

Things have been good so far. Don't lose focus on the long game.

Thanks for being a tech lead at HubSpot, we are lucky to have you helping us build a product our customers truly love, so thank you for that. I would agree on sometimes feeling like chaos, and on the autonomy and opportunities for folks willing to work on high impact projects. I promise ...

I have been working at HubSpot full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

HubSpot never rests on its laurels and every department is committed to getting better every day. You are given a lot of autonomy which is supported by radical transparency in the business. This allows you to have all the context needed to make the best decisions to solve for the customer. There are guidelines and playbooks, of course, but you have a lot of discretion in your day-to-day activities. In my group,...

    Cons

As with many scale-ups, we have some high class challenges: customer counts, a platform that continues to get both wider and deeper, internal systems keeping pace with business growth. You have to approach this role with a bit of patience and realizing that you will need to be the change and innovation needed to take this role to the next level.

    Advice to Management

Keep grinding away on those sharp edges in the customer experience.

I have been working at HubSpot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's not hard to get on board with HubSpot's Culture Code (an adaptation of Patty McCord's work at Netflix) and it's "only policy" of "Use Good Judgment." Free snacks, a large open office campus plan with plenty of common spaces, smoothie bar, gym, unlimited vacation, etc. The people are generally pretty smart, talented, and hardworking. The intentions are always good, and this is particularly clear when it comes to their...

    Cons

HubSpot is finding it increasingly difficult to scale its culture across 9 global offices, and as a result, culture is especially struggling at "home" in Cambridge. As the manager corps expands, there isn't enough training or support available to first-time managers. As a result, the company is seeing a lot of turnover--including folks who've stuck around for 4+ years but didn't find it worth it to make it to 5 to get...

    Advice to Management

Invest more in developing people management and leadership skills among promising individual contributors. Take more bets on your best talent--if they've already proven themselves, promote them. Don't have them do the job for 6 months before actually giving them the commensurate title and pay.
