      Interview

The hiring process consists of an initial HR interview to assess cultural fit, followed by a technical interview to evaluate skills, and concludes with three separate one-on-one interviews with different managers expecting STAR responses.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin)

      Interview

Screening with a hiring representative. Talked about my motivations for applying. Skills and how they might apply to the job. No focus on why Hubspot would be a good company to work for or what they may offer in terms of benefits. Forwarded to a video interview with a manager who had very obviously picked a candidate already and was just interviewing as a formality. I could have done the video interview with zero research on the company or the job specs and it wouldn't have made any difference because the manager didn't ask. No mention of why hubspot would be a good company to work for and why it ranks so highly. I can understand that managers get bored doing formulaic interviews with candidates however this person made no effort in any way to hide the fact they were uninterested in interviewing and clearly did not want to be there. Manager asked me to display the tasks I had to prepare pre interview including one task that I had not been asked to prepare beforehand. It sealed my fate when i had issues performing it. Manager picked one random situational question just as a formality but again did not look invested in the process in any way. I was relieved not to have been offered a job and most probably would have declined the offer had it been the case because the thought of being managed by this person did not seem attractive in any way. The hiring dept promised feedback which never arrived. I wasn't expecting feedback, my interviewer's behaviour and body language told me all I needed to know. However please don't promise things you don't follow up with.

Hi there, I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your review. Clearly we fell short of your expectations in a number of ways. We take feedback on the engagement of our interviewers very seriously, especially as we transition to fully remote interviews, so I appreciate your feedback and will absolutely take it back to the team. While I understand your critique on our team's failure to proactively share the benefits of working at HubSpot, part of our job is to understand what's important to our candidates and then share aspects of HubSpot that may align with their values or growth goals, so if you don't proactively ask or share up front what's important to you, it may take a bit longer to get deeper on some of the reasons HubSpot is such a great place to work. Regardless of the outcome, I appreciate you taking the time to interview with us, and wish you the best in your search. Best, Becky

      Interview

Three rounds: -Screening with recruiter -Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager) -Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers) The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
