      SLT Role Interview

      19 Mar 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HiveMQ

      Interview

Pretty standard interview process. Recruiter, HM, associates of the HM. It dragged on a bit due to Q1 businesses, which I totally understand. Ultimately I was told they were going with another candidate who was "more technical" (direct quote from recruiter). This was odd - all of my interviews with Hive employees were focused on how I'd run a specific internal program for them, including how I'd interface with customers. The interviews never pressed on technical acumen, even when meeting with the VP Engineering. Also odd is that there was someone doing this role (albeit at a lower title). I asked about this and was literally told they were terminating this person soon because this person was actively causing problems with customers. Turns out, they promoted THAT person. So, I really have no idea what to believe.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked how I would handle being "in the field", acting as a representative of the company directly interacting with customers and potential customers.
