had a virtual interview for a head office role. The interview was with two staff members and was quite informal in tone. There were some very strange questions that I have not been asked before in an interview, and this did throw me a bit. The interviewer did not seem to be leading the interview very well, and did not prompt me to speak about certain job experiences or ask very relevant questions, so I felt that I was having to take control of the direction of conversation at a few points. I was told that they would provide feedback in the next two weeks.
I heard nothing from them for a month, at which point I had assumed I was unsuccessful. I was contacted then to come in for a second stage interview in the London office. The interview was with three members of senior staff. The interview was friendly, and informal lasting only around 20 minutes. I was told a little more about the role, which sounded a lot more involved and senior than the job description. It would involve managing a team and leading the product development department, which made me concerned as the job advertised seemed like a more junior role. The work load seemed very high for the size of the team.
I was offered the role the next day, however the salary was much lower then I would expect for the amount of responsibility expected of the role. I tried to negotiate a higher wage, but this was shut down.
I ultimately declined the job offer as I felt like the company was trying to downplay a manager role as a mid level role to reduce salary costs. Please pay your staff a fair living wage, they are very skilled and hard working.
