I applied and had an interview a bit more than a week later. The interview was pretty typical for an initial call with HR/Talent. She told me about the company, then asked a bit about my background.
Ranking this interview with HR and some of the others I've had, this one would be a 2 out of 10. This one felt perfunctory at best, whereas some others really tried to dig in and qualify me as a candidate.
I did not end up getting the position, but I already knew that before getting off the interview; even wrote it in my notes. With more than a decade doing the exact things they are looking for, I could tell from the interviewer's tone that this was a "going through the motions" exercise.
Whether they had already found what they were looking for and were just making sure, or it was the fact that I didn't live in the Northeast, or it was an "off day", I'm not sure. But it was fairly obvious the person interviewing me wasn't giving it 100%.
I received the "Thank you but we didn't select you" email only a couple of business days later.
