      Business Development Interview

      8 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gray Routes in Mar 2016

      Interview

      1. HR call for scheduling interview 2. Telephonic interview 3. Final round with co-founder Initial telephonic round was all about past experience, knowledge and skills. In the next in-person round, same interviewer again interviewed. Discussion with co-founder followed after this. You get limited information on such unheard start-ups online that is very well marketed - the reality can best be understood by visiting their work environment. This company is a technologically innovative company, with no proven expertise or recognition in sales and business development. There did not appear to be any external vendor or support taken for this purpose and everything was in-house, no experienced employees or those with industry exposure found. No credentials or background of co-founders seem to possess any credibility Definitely not something a funded tech-startup does as their core competence areas differ significantly. Team appeared to be of freshers and out-of-college candidates, not a positive sign again for a funded startup. Focus was lesser on knowledge, experience and skills but more on cultural fit. I found the overall experience to be very casual from company's perspective.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions were asked without referring the resume - repetition of what was in resume. Co-founder took interview basis verbal info from one of the junior managers. 1. What are your weaknesses? 2. Are you comfortable visiting unknown companies randomly?

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We do understand your frustration on not being offered a job with Gray Routes. We do, however, suggest that the best thing to do when you are rejected from any job interview is to go back and speculate about what might have gone wrong in the interview and how you can perform better. Questioning the credibility of the company and the founders to which you applied for in the first place is not the best way of working on your skillset. Gray Routes has achieved rapid sustainable scale, formidable industry partnerships, and immense growth during the toughest years when the most funded startups were shutting down in spite of strong marketing and PR. Solid companies are built on cutting edge innovation, extremely motivated team (experienced or non experienced) and an envious clientele. It is seldom built on paid marketing and PR. In hindsight, candidates who don't get offered a position, tend not to be a proper culture fit and we are proud of our recruitment process for having filtered them out.

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at Gray Routes

      Interview

There were two rounds. First with the head of business development, another with the HR. The process was very professional and well-managed. In the first round they tested me on my business acumen and subject knowledge. The second round tested me on my attitude and behavior. The result was declared within half an hour. The process was smooth but was rigorous and comprehensive at the same time.
