Initially, I did a phone interview that was fairly easy but they did inform me that my pay range was slightly too high. After discussing the duties, I decided to move forward anyway because the benefits sounded really good. Following the HR screen, I had 3 more interviews and a design test. Every step of the process I was getting great feedback and felt really good about my progress. In the end, I had to reach out to find out where I stood a week after when they told me they hoped to have a decision made. Their HR told me they extended the job offer to an internal candidate and they had accepted. I was very disappointed to hear that, as I feel that an internal candidate has an obvious upper hand and those options should have been exhausted before spending so much time with an external candidate.
