I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Sept 2011
Interview
Met with 6 engineers on day one. The questions were mostly technical - coding, testing, system architecture, managing teams. Then met with 2 directors and 1 VP. More technical questions and management questions.

Question 1
Q: Describe a mistake you made in your professional management career. Were you able to correct it?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Google (New York, NY) in Jul 2017
Interview
Five interviews, most with a couple of whiteboard coding problems. The process was interactive, with the interviewer and me working together on the problem. Most interviewers were very nice, smart, and made the process fun. The question where I struggled a bit led to some frustration on the part of the interviewer (more than mine!)

Question 1
To solve problems that looked like Conway's Game of Life, but with very large boards. The goal was efficiency.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Google (Venice, CA) in Apr 2016
Interview
Sara Oetker was an incredible recruiter. She managed expectations perfectly. Always followed up when she said she would. Never did anything to take me by surprise. Extremely helpful all the way through. She was everything you want from a recruiter, both as a candidate, and as a company. What a delight to work with.
