I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Sunnyvale, CA) in Dec 2018
Interview
Was a fair interview process until the final round.
Applied with referrals from current APM and YouTube SWE. First round was a phone screen for 45 minutes, straightforward.
They had me complete an "essay" for product design--supposed to be done in 2 hours, but the context of the assignment required obviously more than that.
They scheduled my onsite interviews (3 in total), but the night before, I receive an email that one of my interviews was canceled and would be rescheduled at a later date (it wasn't). I didn't interview on the main campus, but at a different Sunnyvale campus.
One of my interviews was virtual with a SWE from YouTube, the second with a current PM. It seemed brief and unenthusiastic. Received rejection a week or two later, with no feedback from recruiter. Frustrating because it's unsure if my chances would've been better with my third interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Dec 2025
Interview
applied through internal referral rejected after r2
r1: product sense, a couple general questions: what is a good pm and how do you embody those traits + 1 case question: design an app for flight experiences
r2 (2 rounds back to back): didn't do well on the first one (design an app for launching autonomous buses for public transportation) , second one went well (explain websites vs apps for ppl who are not technically adept + design a fridge for people who are colorblind)--> rejected

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Google (Zürich)
Interview
Many delays and waiting times. Outsourced most of their HR staff. For simple rejection, you wait months. A lengthy process with too much competition and high expectations. The selection process was very poorly conducted in terms of many people going through unnecessary interviews.

Only had a first round interview. I was just asked one long product design question (wasn't what I was expecting at all and also didn't follow the attached interview prep pdf in the email)
