      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Apr 2008

      Interview

Initially, begin with a phone call. Some chat about java, then a IQ question about horse racing. After that a on-site interview. Two round. The most difficult one asks question about: SQL query (use bits to reduce amount of work). search question: three words with three position lists, how to determine the smallest range includes the three words. I kinds of failed the two questions. Arrive at 10am, left after the two rounds. After a week, got a phone call saying there is no position.

      Interview

Internal recruiters seemed slow and unorganized to arrange interview. After being told to provide dates of availability I had to re-establish contact after lack of communication went beyond the available dates I provided. The interviewer sounded like he just read my resume before the call. He asked about an interesting UI feature in an app I liked. But was not knowledgeable in 3D basics to go into technical details on the interface. So he asked some basic UIKit questions about the UI of a popular social media app. Overall the interviewer was very mechanical and lacked any warmth. I got the impression the interviewer had a narrow technical range of expertise and the interviewer admitted to not having interviewed anyone for this position before. I felt they had a lack of concern for the entire interview and it was just a last minute chore imposed on them. A day later a friend of mine informed me two people already got hired for the role a few weeks earlier.
