Allow me to tell you how poor this company did when it comes to my interview.
I applied through indeed. Given, I did not have any of the experience they required so I was quite surprise when I got the call. The lady on the phone asked to set up a skype interview with her manager. Half an hour before the scheduled time I had to call and remind her that she was supposed to send me skype interview instructions. She said the person who was originally supposed to take my interview is not available and she will be taking it. She did not remember her skype id so asked mine. After keeping my skype open for 20 minutes waiting for the skype call I finally called and she said there may be skype difficulties (It could be something I did/didnt do too as I am not very familiar with skype functions), lets just do it over the phone. It didnt seem like it was a structured interview since she kept saying "What was I going to ask...".
A few days later I was emailed with the time for the second interview. I had to call and ask the specifics. Is it in person or skype? What location is it at? Who is the interview with? Is there parking? Considering I lived 2.5 hours away. The time she gave me did not work for me so I gave her another time and she said she will have to confirm with her manager who will be taking my interview.
One day before the interview I called to confirm if it was still the same time and if she had confirmed with her manager. She said "yes". She also mentioned they were extremely interested and I was the only candidate so far.
Today was the day of the interview. Given I have to cross GTA to get to Aurora, I had given myself 3.5 hours to reach there incase I hit traffic. I left at Noon and arrived at 2:30pm. I had decided to wear ballerina shoes as it looks more professional than boots. Their parking lot was not clean, I barely managed to reach the door. Once inside the first thing I mentioned was "I know I am an hour early but I have an interview with X & Y in an hour". The lady at the desk was the same person I had spoke to on the phone. She said "I emailed you this morning! The interview was cancelled!" I said "I had checked my phone at noon before leaving and there was no email there". The email was sent at 1:15, so barely an hour ago and given where I was travelling from I would have been in the car and I dont check my phone while driving. A call would have been nicer knowing I must have been on the road to get to the interview! No apologies, no empathy, no sorry, nothing! The lady from inside the office started saying "Well you are early! Isnt the interview at 3:30!" I said "I know, I just mentioned it that I was early". Her body language basically said "Get out!" And this was the lady I was suppose to interview with. Upon reading the email again, it actually said "the manager had to leave early". So! For a company that has "empathy" as a value, there was zero empathy! I was tired from the drive. I felt unwelcomed, more of an inconvenience that I even showed up. I was asked to go get coffee and come back in an hour.
I went back to my car, breathed in, realized this was not the company I wanted to work for neither was it the boss I wanted to work under. I left and went home.
This took 5 hours of my day that I could have utilized in applying to other places.
Work ethic is very bad in this place and I am glad I do not have to work at a place like this!
