Applied and within 2 weeks received call to schedule an interview. One hour before the interview I was called to reschedule (as I was on my way) with an unknown date being told the owner had an emergency and left the country. Weeks and weeks go on while I continue to reach out and finally after 2 months they schedule an in-person interview. I arrive early and meet with someone and go through a basic interview (questions appeared to be pulled from the internet). I asked about the owner if everything was ok, turns out there was no issue and there are multiple owners so that was my 2nd red flag.
Then was told they would contact me either way before the following Tuesday however a couple weeks go by before they respond to an update message from me to schedule a 2nd interview. I attended and this time all of the owners and the Kitchen Manager were there. Standard basic questions were asked and answered. I inquired about the salary, benefits and bonus structure as the posted rate on the job listing started at $70k, their response was $50k plus bonus of 15 basis points (at year end) or 2% of net revenue. This was the 3rd red flag then I questioned the gross vs net revenue and was given different answers compared to the initial interview. In the first interview, I was told the gross revenue was $5 million but in the 2nd interview, I was told the net revenue was over $6 million. I asked for clarification as we all know net is after all expenses and your net revenue cannot be higher than your gross revenue, again another major red flag.
After all of the discussions, questions asked and answered it was very clear the position they are looking although posted as General Manager was actually for an Assistant General Manager. No manager's office, no paperwork, limited actually business operations responsibility that a GM normally has.
I was told that I would be advised of the decision the following Tuesday. My plan was that if they offered the job I would discuss the salary requirements and role in more detail and then I would give my answer however it has now been a couple of months and they have yet to reach out to me to provide their answer.
They are a group of owners that do not operate on a business professional level and it is unfortunate. I can now see why many have left such negative reviews.
